City Administration
 

City Council:

Okemah has a council-manager form of government. There are 5 councilmen, one from each ward and one at large. Their terms are staggered and are for four years. The city clerk and treasurer are appointed, as are the city attorney and city judge.

 
Planning Commission:

Okemah is a Century Community with a comprehensive city plan. This plan is being used as a guide for zoning and orderly growth for the future.

 

Police Protection:

The Okemah Police Department consists of the Chief of Police, 5 officers, 4 school resource officers, 4 dispatchers and one animal control. The department has 7 vehicles and 1 truck for animal control. All city areas receive patrol service.

 
Fire Protection The Okemah Fire Department is a 20-member volunteer fire department.
 
County Sheriff

The county sheriff and his office are located in Okemah. This office is manned by a sheriff, undersheriff and 5 deputies. There are 9 radio-equipped cars. Their radios are on a network with surrounding cities and counties.
