Pioneer Day Festival

The Okemah Community Improvement Association (CIA) sponsors the Okemah Pioneer Day Celebration held every last weekend in April. Pioneer Day is a celebration of Okemah's birthday. Each year the CIA strives to make Pioneer Day bigger and better than ever.

Annual activities include a carnival, parade, games and contests. Come browse through the many arts and crafts booths located on the downtown sidewalks on Saturday. You're sure to find something to delight your taste buds among the variety of foods available on Pioneer Day. There is always plenty of food and activities for all. Everyone is encouraged to get involved and have fun!

Pioneer Day is a great opportunity for churches and civic groups to have a fundraiser. Applications for Arts & Crafts , Food or Merchandise Vendor Booths are available online or by contacting Danny Custar at 918-623-9441.

Anyone interested in participating in the parade should email the CIA at ciaatokemah@yahoo.com. The parade organizer requests that you provide details about your parade entry, including your organization's name and whether you will be walking, driving a pickup, flatbed trailer, etc. Four wheelers are not permitted to be in the parade.

Several groups in town offer a variety of entertainment on Pioneer Day weekend. Come enjoy a gospel singing in the Farmers Market on Thursday night, a Talent show at Crystal Theater on Saturday night, a golf tournament, or the Beauty Pageant held the weekend prior to Pioneer Day. There are always numerous family and class reunions as well as a horseshoe tournament in Noble Park. The Okemah Chamber of Commerce holds their annual Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday night. Tickets must be purchased in advance from the Chamber.
