The spiritual needs of Okemah are ministered to by numerous churches representing almost every major denomination. Much of Okemah's social life is centered around its churches. The churches draw the city's residents together to strengthen and encourage them as they go about their endeavors throughout the week. Religious leaders are strong in their support of those activities and programs which strengthen the family bond and enhance the community's well being. The Okemah Ministerial Alliance, which coordinates relief measures in times of emergencies, also conducts community services at Thanksgiving and Easter.
